Virtually every car sold in the United States today has an airbag control module (“ACM”) that records data and speeds in the seconds leading up to a collision – in the event that the airbag is deployed. SRI was recently involved in a case where the ACM was damaged to the point that it could not be imaged through conventional means. But, the information in this module contained information vital to the defense of our client. Thus, we set out to find a way to acquire a scientifically accepted method of obtaining this critical information. Because of this case, we now have the hardware and software to copy the data out of the ACM chip regardless of other damage and to paste it into a new module. This allows us to successfully clone data that was previously irretrievable. Better yet, our methodology has already been accepted by courts.
Accordingly, if you have a case where the ACM is damaged, and you are told that the data cannot be extracted, you now know that this may not be true. Call us for details. SRI is here to help!
