SRI has been conducting digital investigations for the past 18 years. Our digital investigator is routinely asked to image/investigate cell phones and computers for information. While we gladly help anyone with this issue, valuable data is missing from the analysis. Unless you disable the data recording service when signing up for an account, Google tracks and stores your activity.
Surprisingly, when researching we found that even the voice commands that you give your phone or computer in Google apps are recorded and stored. We recently listened to recordings in one account dating back to April of 2014.
If you’re using an android phone and you haven’t disabled the services, your location is being recorded and stored by Google at this moment. Additionally, every time you access Youtube, the videos you watch are stored. This applies to most Google apps that you use.
To help you navigate or retrieve this information we have prepared a step by step guide to obtaining this information. For help with this or any other digital forensic issue please contact us at (606) 279-6043.
